Pachauri: it’s all a terrible conspiracy

Ignore anything remotely untoward you may have read about Dr Rajendra Pachauri – distinguished, much-respected and not at all troll-like head of the IPCC – here, here, here or here. Turns out, it’s all complete lies: part of an evil conspiracy by various powerful but (unspecified) vested interests desperate to make the AGW industry look like a crooks’ charter when in fact AGW is totally true and real and even more dangerous than we had hitherto ever imagined. (Hat tip: Plato Says)

How do we know this? Because Dr Pachauri says so in his latest blog for the Guardian.

He tells us:

It is a well-known fact that powerful vested interests and those opposed to action on climate change are working overtime to see that they can stall action for as long as possible.

What’s more, he hasn’t made a penny out of all the advice he gives to carbon trading businesses and such-like:

As for pecuniary benefits from advice that I may be rendering to profit making organisations, these payments are all made directly to my institute, without a single penny being received by me.

It’s the poor who stand to suffer most from any further delay on climate-change legislation says this deeply ascetic man:

Delay in reducing emissions of greenhouse gases would only lead to worse impacts of climate change and growing hardship for the most vulnerable regions in the world, which are also unfortunately some of the poorest communities on earth.

He is telling us all this because we need to be vigilant against the dark forces of denialism and scepticism which, like the Orcish hordes of Mordor, threaten in the coming year to trample all over The Shire and its peaceful, honest, vegetarian community of scientists, green activists, nurturing technocrats, and sweet, gentle, life-affirming carbon traders.

Or, as he slightly less colourfully puts it:

I am providing this background only to highlight the fact that powerful vested interests are perhaps likely to get overactive in the coming months, and would perhaps do everything in their power to impede progress towards a binding agreement that is hoped for by the end of 2010 in the next major climate negotiations in Mexico City.

Those two perhapses are my favourite bit.

Wow! That Copenhagen package really worked. Global warming has been dramatically reversed.

In fact, if Al Gore could see his way to turning the heat back up just a little, most of us would be deeply appreciative… “Climate science” is the oxymoron of the century. There is not a city, town or hamlet in the country that has had its weather conditions correctly forecast, over periods as short as 12 hours, during the past week.

This is the “exceptionally mild winter” that the climate change buffoons warned us would occur as a consequence of global warming. Their credibility is 20 degrees below zero. Yet nothing shames them, nothing persuades them to come out of the bunker with their hands high and “fess up”. Patronisingly fobbing off the public with fabricated excuses has become second nature to them.

Latterly they have been concocting alibis about the Gulf Stream to explain Britain’s Arctic conditions. Uh-huh? Is it the Gulf Stream that has frozen the Vistula and given Poland a temperature of –25C? Is it the Gulf Stream that has caused the worst blizzards in Beijing since 1951?

The entire Northern Hemisphere is frozen. The world looks like a Christmas pudding with icing on the top. That is completely normal, part of the random climate fluctuations with which our ancestors were familiar. Yet fraudulent scientists have gained millions of pounds by taking selective samples of natural climate change, whipping up a Grande Peur and using it to advance the cause of world government, state control and fiscal despoliation of citizens. 2010 should be the year when all that ends.

It is time for Zero Tolerance of AGW fraudsters and their political masters. It is time to say: Green taxes? We won’t pay them. Nor will we vote for or permit to remain in office any politician or party that supports the AGW fraud.

This year is one of those rare occasions when we have an opportunity to punish and control our political masters – provided Britons have the will to break with the two-party system. Due to the rise of smaller parties – itself the consequence of the misgovernment of the Lab/Lib/Con consensus – it is a buyer’s market.

The rule of thumb should be: any party that supports the global warming scam is ineligible for our votes. It doesn’t matter how ingrained one’s loyalty may once have been to one of the “major” parties, the time has come to impose the popular will on politicians who have learned, since the abolition of capital punishment in 1965, that by forming an anti-democratic consensus they can dictate to the public. The coming general election is going to be an intelligence test.

If people realise that voting for the slightly less objectionable choice gets them nowhere, that by holding out for what they really want they can actually obtain it, then we may be able to liberate ourselves from the tree-hugging New/Blue Labour consensus. If we fail to rise to that challenge we shall forfeit the right to complain about five more years of PC oppression.

That is the answer: Zero Tolerance of “Green” agendas.

The first week of January is the time for predictions for the New Year, so I would like to make my prediction about the Climate Alarmists next attack on our freedom.

You may recall that some of the Global Warming scientists started their careers warning us about the pending ice age in the 70s, but then when the weather began to warm they switched to warming.

Warming was not enough though. It had to be Man-Made Global Warming so that we would all feel guilty and want to pay up. Mankind was also implicated in the Y2K scare, since we created and programmed all those computers, and we had to spend lots of our hard earned tax dollars to pay for our mistakes. 

So now after the revelations of Climategate and the failures of both Kyoto and Copenhagen what is the likelihood that the Alarmists might want to switch horses again and try a new boogeyman?  With major snow falls all over North America and Europe during December, ongoing record setting cold spells now being experienced seemingly everywhere, and scientific predictions for at least a couple decades of cooling, this may be a good time to try to save some Alarmist credibility and get off the Global Warming horse. 

But which horse should they switch to. After all, there needs to be another horse. Those that want to scare us into believing we are in great danger and need to be saved must find something for us to be in danger from. Otherwise, how could they advocate for higher taxes, a new world government, restrictions on freedoms, and funds from the haves to save the have-nots. Anthropogenic Global Warming was such a perfect crisis vehicle for trying to achieve all of these, but now it is looking kind of worn out and full of holes.

I would hate to think that anyone would conceive of a really nasty manufactured disease that would serve their purpose. Surely things of that nature and WMDs would be created and used only by extremists to suit their religious goals….Wouldn’t they?  I hope!

There is however a man-made crisis that could be useful to the elite control freaks and that is a world-wide economic crisis, but it has a few flaws. One is that we just got over one and seemed to have survived it just fine, so that is kind of so last decade. Also, Copenhagen demonstrated that it is kind of difficult to convince world governments to raise taxes during an economic crisis, and besides the developed countries seem to be more seriously hurt by economic crisis, so the taxes would have to be raised on the undeveloped and developing countries to help the rich…..That’s not going to work. So even if Obama and the Democrats are successful in destroying the US economy through deficits and taxes, the world government fans may not be able to take advantage of it.   

Currently, there does not seem to be any large meteors or comets that can be verified to be on a collision course with earth, so we don’t need a world government and higher taxes to save us from any of those things. At least, not yet! But just you wait until something significant is spotted. We will all have to dig deep and send our money to the UN to protect the developing countries from the imminent danger, ‘that will hit them first’.  I wonder how much money is already being spent by Alarmists eagerly looking for a big rock that may be useful to them, at least for a few years…..until it lands.

Unfortunately for the Alarmists, the Mayan and Nostradomus predictions for the end of the world in 2012, although nice and big in terms of threat level, does not really lend itself to raising taxes or saving the developing countries, since fortunately, even the UN would be a candidate for destruction. Besides, who would believe them if they tried to give some scientific credibility to these predictions? Jones and Mann were good at their deceptions about Global Warming, but not even these guys could make us believe this one.

I hope I haven’t bummed you out to much. Don’t despair! There is still a potential tragedy that the Marxist control freaks could use to take your money and your freedom.

If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, the odds are you can likely look out your window right now and see it, or walk outside and feel it. It is a threat to our life-styles and in some cases our lives and it is an even greater threat to the poor nations of the world, so wealth transfer could still be invoked. Its effects could be minimized through massive financial investments, but no matter what we spend, we cannot prevent it, so the tax increases could go on as long as our jobs hold out. It will probably have a detrimental impact on world population, so the eugenicists will love it. It may require large migrations of the population and new methods and guidelines for food production and distribution, so it could be a hit with the central government control types.

Unfortunately (for the rent seekers) it does not require any fraudulent scientists to make the case for the threat since there are already many real scientists predicting it. That would be great news for the Alarmists since they won’t have to risk their already shaky reputations about scientific facts. Another plus for Alarmists is that it will also require energy conservation, although for a different reason, so the carbon tax fans could carry on without missing a beat. 

This is a perfect new horse for the Alarmists to switch to, so why are they still riding that beaten down old nag called Global Warming when they could switch to Global Cooling. Well, for one reason, they would lose all of their useful idiots in the Environmental NGOs. If man is not causing the world to cool, then what would the Greenies have to complain about. Who could they blame? Gaia? The Alarmists would also lose many of their current rent seeking scientists as they latch onto a new group of poorly funded scientists they once called ‘deniers’. 

The best thing of all about this new crisis for the Alarmists is that it is real and it can be predicted with some degree of accuracy. No more hockey sticks, other than possibly for playing hockey on the ice-paks around the edge of the Caribbean. 

This article is not just a sarcastic shot at the AGW Alarmists. There is a considerable amount of science behind this prediction. There are many scientists working on the question of what is really causing Climate Change (besides that stupid CO2 thing) and where are we headed. The almost decade long cooling that we have experienced since the turn of the century is real and there are predictions that it will continue for at least two decades or possibly more.

The current theories for why we are experiencing cooling include the influence of clouds, cosmic rays, solar burst from sun spots, and the relationship between these. One of the best authors I have seen on the subject is Dr. Henrik Svensmark from Denmark. He is the man that you may have seen collapse from a heart attack on stage at COP15. Dr. Svensmark has produced a very layperson consumable video of his theories that was shown on television in Europe. Note that the documentary starts out in the Danish language with English subtitles then switches after a few minutes to English. The Danish language at the beginning of the first video may explain why there were 32,000 views on the first of the six videos, but just over 5,000 views for the remaining five. The video of Dr. Svensmark’s heart attack however had over 880,000 hits. 

If you are among those concerned about what is being taught to our children in schools, such as Al Gore’s highly discredited movie, you might want to acquire a copy of Dr. Svensmark’s DVD and the “Not Evil Just Wrong” video to share with your local school or school board. As I indicated in my article on a proposed Global Freedom Day, finding out what our children are being taught in school has to be a high priority if we want to maintain our freedoms. 
 
Those of you who have paid attention to the Climategate scandal will not be surprised to see in the video the extent to which the Alarmist have tried to block Dr. Svensmark from publishing his theories. My prediction though is that after the Global Warming Alarmists get shot down in flames again in Mexico City in December, they will jump to a new horse, embrace the scientists working on Global Cooling, and plot a new course for world governance.

AS one of the worst winters in 100 years grips the country, climate experts are still trying to claim the world is growing warmer. With millions of Britons battling through snow and ice to get to work today, scientists claim that the cold conditions should not be used as evidence against man-made climate change. Blizzards, ice and sub-zero temperatures that have gripped the UK for almost a month in a record deep freeze are not “robust” indicators of global weather patterns, they say. Their claims come despite the fact that the rest of the northern hemisphere, from America to Europe and Asia, is suffering some of the worst winters in living memory. Huge snowfalls are being witnessed from China and South Korea, across eastern, central and western Europe and to America where even Florida is struggling to record temperatures above freezing. Last night critics of the global warming lobby said the public were no longer prepared to be conned into believing that man-made emissions were adding to the problem.

I’ve been a little obsessed lately with trying to get up to speed on the whole climate change issue. I’ve been ignoring up until now. Nevertheless, my quick review of the available information tells me two things:

1) The link between increased CO2 and increased global temperatures is greatly exaggerated, and

2) The proposed fixes for the U.S. are a 90% reduction in our production of CO2 – and absurdly drastic and unrealistic remedy. I think the more people study up on this the more outraged they will become. A couple of quick points bear mentioning.

First, the Anthropomorphic Global Warming (AGW) folks predicted that 2009 would be the hottest year ever and 2009 turned out to be an average year. Their prediction is based on the idea that increasing CO2 levels cause global warming. Since the world produces more CO2 each year, it would be shocking – from the point of view of their model – to see temperatures decline.

The problem is that even their own data demonstrates that there is no causal relationship between these two factors. The cooler than predicted 2009 should cause grave doubts among the true believers who still think there is evidence of AGW.

Take a look at Al Gore’s global warming chart in An Inconvenient Truth. You’ll see that increases in CO2 levels trail increases in temperatures. This is the EXACT opposite of what the ClimateGate folks’ beloved models are predicting will happen. Apparently, this is why the folks at University of East Anglia were scrambling to “trick” up their models to match their theories…and looking for ways to discredit and cut out their critics.

I guess their use of tree rings to measure past temperatures wasn’t so accurate looking into the past – during the Little Ice Age – or looking into the future – the last 20 years.

The reality is that climate change is a lot more complex than these folks suppose and they really don’t have a strong, predictive model in place yet. For example, as the folks at Powerline indicate, it maybe that the SO2/sulfate being generated by the rising emissions from China is having a cooling effect on the planet.

One of the reasons I’m an “award-winning” political scientist is that I’m not blinded by conventional wisdom. I look at the facts. Among these facts is the truth that Greenland, in warmer – pre-industrial – times, used to be green, that is covered with grass.

To a certain extent, there is evidence that mankind would be better off if the Earth was a little warmer because it would encourage plant growth and longer growing seasons. At any rate, what is shocking is that so many political types, including Al Gore, have relied on this faulty, dishonest science to promote a political agenda which is destructive to individual freedom. (Al Gore, for example, was recently caught lying by suggesting that these controversial e-mails were all over ten years old.)

Nevertheless, I’ve seen this before during the welfare reform debates of the 1990s. I was personally attacked because I believed the evidence which showed that welfare programs created poverty. Just because liberals don’t have the evidence on their side never seems to keep them from thinking that they know best.

Also, as a political scientist, I’m skeptical of scientists living off grants to study the AGW hypothesis. They are an interest group, pure and simple. The Climategate e-mails are very helpful to all of us right now because they show how this modelling is completely dominated by politics – not hard science.

I think anthropomorphic global warming is dead as a theory. It will take some time for the true believers to catch up to the reality that they’ve been had.

“Sixteen people have died in Uttar Pradesh since early Wednesday due to cold [weather] conditions in the state. Most victims were homeless or pavement dwellers,” state police spokesman G N Khanna said.

Police in Jammu, the winter capital of India-administered Kashmir, found the body of a worker who also died due to the cold.

Temperatures have plummeted in Uttar Pradesh and main cities such as Kanpur and Agra recorded temperatures as low as 1 to 4 degrees Celsius.
Beggars and homeless people had to spend the cold nights with little protection beyond plastic sheets and bags, reports said. State authorities were distributing blankets and firewood to the poor, police said.

Weather officials said there would be no respite from the cold weather and expect temperatures to fall further over the weekend.

Cold weather prevailed in northern states like Punjab and Haryana. The season’s lowest temperature on the plains was reported from Amritsar, which recorded minus 0,2 degrees Celsius.

In the Himalayan region, several parts of Indian Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh temperatures dropped below zero.
